Cable Jointing
- Cable jointing for Low Voltage, High Voltage and EHV networks
- LV, HV & EHV cable installations (internal and external)
- DNO’s, IDNO’s, Residential, Retail, Commercial, Industrial, Public Sector, Renewable Energy sectors
Service Jointing
The connection of a cable to feed a specific item (i.e. residential flat, house, retail unit, commercial development or site, office building, streetlight etc). The requirement is that it needs to be connected to the nearest suitable LV main, which could be connected to while live or dead. The other end of the service cable is terminated to a cut out at the domestic property, streetlight etc.
LV Mains Jointing
The connection of a new main cable to an existing mains cable to extend the LV main network. This work is normally completed as live jointing, unless on a new building site when the mains may not yet be energized.
Link Box Installation
The installation of a link box with links or fuses in to give a point of isolation, backfeed or separation on an LV main. Link boxes can be installed on live networks as well as dead.
High Voltage Jointing & Terminations
All high voltage jointing and terminations are carried out while the HV network is dead. High Voltage is never worked on while live.
EHV Jointing & Terminations
All EHV jointing and terminations.
Terminations
Powertek supplies a wide scope of Termination services from straightforward high power cable terminations, high voltage cable installation and high voltage cable jointing through testing and fault location, to complete turnkey project management.
Our personnel are fully trained in LV & HV works to current safety regulations & standards and receive DNO and manufacturer product training on a vast range of cables and their components including PILC, XLPE, PICAS, Tyco, Pfisterer, Raychem, Pirelli, and 3M systems, amongst others.
Testing & Inspections
Powertek offers and undertakes full High Voltage Cable Testing & Inspection services for DNO’s, IDNO’s and private clients. All testing and inspection works are completed inhouse and within our Cable Services division to determine whether cables are fit for purpose. These tests can be undertaken pre-delivery or onsite and may include:
- Very Low Frequency (VLF) Testing
- Insulation Resistance (IR) Testing
- Time Domain Reflective (TDR) Testing
- Pressure Testing up to 80kv
- Cross Talk Testing
- Attenuation Testing
