Powertek was appointed by international advertising company JCDecaux to manage the replacement of 350 bus shelters in the city of Edinburgh. As part of this project, Powertek also removed the old advertising boards and bus shelters. The project included excavating the full length of Princes Street and the installation of cabling infrastructure for JCDeaux state of the art, contemporary bus shelter along Edinburgh’s busiest street.
This city-wide project involved extensive planning and coordination with local authority and transport operators including bus and tram companies.
Powertek had to overcome several civil engineering challenges due both to the number of inground utility services and below street storage facilities which necessitated the special design of fishplate foundations.
The street furniture renewal project was completed in 2017 within client specifications, timescales & budget and has since led to a long-term working relationship where Powertek has conducted work for JCDecaux all across the UK.
